Tom Teichroew

Congregational Care Pastor

It all started when…

My wife Barbara and I are Seattle natives who moved to Salisbury in 2001 a month after the 911 Twin Towers attack.  All the things God did to uproot us from the North Pacific and bring us cross county to the South Atlantic remain a testimony to us of God’s awesomeness – our move was kind of like Abraham’s move from Ur and Moses’ move from Egypt.

We have 2 grown daughters and five grandchildren; the closest in South Bend Indiana and the furthest in Edmonds Washington; and to my knowledge we are the first and only Teichroews to settle in Dixie.  I (we) have been in ministry since the early 70’s leading home groups, bible studies and teaching marriage classes.  I have served on the councils of Presbyterian, Lutheran, Assemblies and Foursquare Churches; and was Associate Pastor of an Assemblies Church before moving to North Carolina  I had also accumulated 30 years of real estate experience in lending, appraising and marketing and owned a real estate business that I sold when we moved.  The combination of ministry and real estate experience led to my call by the Foursquare denomination to be part of a new regional office in Concord NC to assist about 500 churches east of the Mississippi with their real estate projects.

Currently I am a Chaplain with the Salisbury Police Department and Chaplain at the Salisbury YMCA; and as of January 2, 2020 Congregational Care Pastor at First Reformed Church.  Ministry in this role will include assisting the Pastor in any way, visitations, hospital calls, crisis intervention and ministering to those who have suffered losses.
